Chapter 68

The skilled warrior shows no aggression. The skilled fighter does not give in to rage. The one who truly conquers keeps clear of his enemy. The one whose commands are best obeyed practices his craft with humility.

So we say: “He does not contend, and in this lies his strength.” So we say: “He guides others’ wills, so they join with him.” So we say: “His aims match Heaven’s — no ancient sage shone brighter.”
