Chapter 47

Without stepping outside his door, one can understand all that happens under heaven; without looking out his window, one can see the Tao of Heaven. The farther one ventures out, the less one knows.

So the sages gained knowledge without traveling, named things rightly without seeing them, and accomplished their aims without striving.
